Welcome to the Fourth Quarter issue of the Gray's Woods Neighborhood Association newsletter! We hope you're enjoying the changing seasons and staying connected with our community. In this issue, we have updates on upcoming events, neighborhood projects, and ways you can get involved to help make Gray's Woods an even better place to live.

The city of Des Moines Prescribed Burning will start in October. Weather permitting, they will be burning Grandview Park 3230 Easton Blvd and Four Mile Creek Open Space @ E 35th St and E Sheridan Ave. For more information, visit dmparks.org under the Natural resources management practices.

Environmental Awareness

Gray's Woods Recipes
Ham Balls Recipe
1 pound ground ham
2 pounds ground pork
1 pound ground beef
4 eggs
2 sleeves crushed graham crackers
1 - 8oz can pineapple juice
Mix ingredients together, form into balls, and cook at 350 degrees for about an hour or until reaching 160 degrees internal temperature.
Brown Sugar Glaze:
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon dry mustard
3/4 cup cider vinegar
3/4 cup pineapple juice
Mix together, dissolve the sugar, bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Apply to ham balls.
